Located in western Kentucky, J&K Livestock, is a 200 year old livestock production operation, whose main focus is raising Lowlines, Tarentaise and Lowline Composite cattle. Our nephew & future Lowline partner, Coy Michael Divine makes J&K Livestock an 8th generation cattle operation! J&K Livestock is an active member of the American Lowline Registry, the Eastern Lowline Angus Association, and the Stenger family have been longtime members of the American Tarentaise Association (Bluegrass Tarentaise).

WHY WE RAISE LOWLINE ANGUS...

Many of our "cattle friends", including family members, questioned why we chose to raise smaller Lowline Angus Cattle. They could not figure out why we wanted to use small Lowline bulls on moderate framed heifers. However, their scepticism is starting to vanish now that they have seen our Lowline sired calves. Our Lowline sired calves do give up a little bit of weaning weight, but nearly all of our halfblood Lowline heifers weigh at least 475 lbs. at weaning and several of the halfblood Lowline bulls have topped 600 lbs. Lowline Angus and Lowline Composites are perfect for small acreage beef production because Lowlines enable you to increase stocking rates. Lowline Angus don't require pampering and mature Lowline cattle can actually maintain their body condition eating inferior forage and hay. Lowline Angus are also perfect for grass-finished beef due to the ability of Lowline sired calve to marble. Speaking of marbling on grass, Cindy Jackson, of Cross Creek Lowlines, has had over 83% of her Lowline sired, grass-finished steers grade choice!
